Modern Industrial Websites: How 3D and Interactivity Help Sell Complex Technology
About article
industrycase
For a long time, industrial websites were purely formal: heavy text, minimal visuals, and almost no attention to user experience. Today, the situation is changing. Modern industrial web design increasingly uses 3D graphics, interactive features, and thoughtful UX. Below are real examples of how these solutions work in practice in Chipsa Studio’s projects.

3D and interactivity in the development of industrial websites: why does business need it?

Interactive 3D models and animations help solve a core challenge: translating complex engineering language into clear, visual communication. This not only saves time for users but also speeds up the decision-making process.

Opora”: A Scroll-Based Production Journey

Opora manufactures high-mast lighting poles. Instead of presenting a lengthy technical description, the website features a scroll-driven animation that walks the viewer through the entire production cycle — from raw metal to the finished structure.

As users scroll, they effectively “move” through the manufacturing process, gaining a clear understanding of how the product is made and why it holds value.

VKI Engineering: Engineering Systems Presented with a Strong Visual Identity

VKI Engineering specializes in sewer systems and engineering infrastructure. The goal was to break away from the typical “grey market” perception and present the company as modern and technologically competent.

We extended the client’s refreshed branding into a full digital system and built the visual concept around 3D. A concise 3D animation of shut-off valves immediately communicates the nature of the company’s work and its technical expertise.

The catalog and visual components were created from scratch and styled to evoke clean engineering drawings. The result is a restrained yet confident website designed for technical audiences — clear, structured, and contemporary.

IST: 3D Equipment Catalog and Reactor Visualization

Industrial equipment is often difficult to grasp without a proper demonstration. In the IST project, users can view installations as fully interactive 3D models and explore a reactor from the inside.

This approach makes the underlying technology far easier to explain and significantly simplifies the decision-making process for customers.

Dipaul: B2B Radio Electronics Catalog Enhanced with 3D Elements

The goal was to create an online store where users can easily navigate a wide range of complex devices while maintaining a strong, technology-focused visual identity.

3D graphics were integrated directly into the design to immediately convey the nature and sophistication of the products.
The result is a website that serves both as an effective sales tool and as a reinforcement of the company’s image as a high-tech industry leader.

Konkritum: 3D Brand Identity and Website for a Concrete Manufacturer

The product itself is simple — concrete. But the brand’s visual language is built around strict geometric 3D forms that immediately convey a sense of strength and engineering precision.

Here, 3D is not just an effect; it functions as an integral part of the brand’s identity and positioning.

Industrial Websites and Portals for the Energy Sector: UX, Structure, and Performance

For large industrial and energy companies, several factors become critical:

  • clearly separating audiences and their scenarios,
  • simplifying access to key information,
  • ensuring stable performance across all devices.

Below are examples of how these challenges were successfully addressed.

SGK: A Complete Relaunch of a Major Energy Company’s Website

The previous website of the Siberian Generating Company had grown overloaded and difficult to navigate. The solution was to divide the platform into three interconnected parts: the main corporate website, a media portal, and a dedicated customer service area.

We introduced a WebGL animation on the homepage, refreshed the visual style in line with the updated branding, and significantly improved loading speed.

The result is a modern, user-friendly website that works well for both industry professionals and the general audience.

GT Energo: Website for Presenting Gas Turbine Energy Solutions

The design is built around a strict, technology-driven visual language. 3D diagrams help clearly explain how the power units operate, making complex processes easier to understand.

The website is equally convenient to use in office settings on large screens and directly at industrial sites from a mobile device.

Eldis: Minimalism Where It Matters, Maximum Clarity for Users

Eldis develops systems for energy metering and management. Because the audience is diverse, the website immediately guides each visitor into a relevant scenario based on their needs.

We added clear service visualizations, clean typography, and a touch of interactivity.

The result is a website that doesn’t overwhelm users with technical complexity and helps them quickly understand the company’s products.

Websites for Industrial Events

TNF: Oil and Gas Forum Portal with a 3D Stand Configurator

TNF is one of the key industry events in the Russian oil and gas sector, bringing together equipment manufacturers, service providers, and representatives of major energy companies.

The main task of the website was to support seamless communication for participants at every stage — before, during, and after the forum. The platform needed to combine the event program, speaker profiles, exhibition information, and services for exhibitors in a single, cohesive resource.

A central feature of the project is the online stand configurator: participating companies can choose layout parameters, equipment, and visual options, then immediately see the resulting stand in a visual, interactive format. This greatly accelerates preparation and reduces the number of organizational questions.

In addition to the configurator, we designed a flexible system of reusable page templates, allowing the forum team to update content quickly and keep the website current. This approach makes TNF markedly more modern and technologically advanced within the industry.

REN: international energy forum with a modern digital image

The client needed a website that would highlight the status of a major economic event in the energy sector and at the same time remain convenient for different categories of participants.

We updated the structure taking into account analytics and SEO requirements, simplified navigation and created a vibrant visual style based on energy lines and corporate accents.

The site helps users to navigate the program, speakers and forum activities in advance, and helps organizers form the desired perception of the event long before its start.

Working with Industrial Interfaces

RUSAL: Web Interface for Training on Electrolyzer Operations

This project is not a typical website but a full-fledged industrial digital tool. The interface enables users to study the processes inside an electrolyzer in a clear and accessible way. Even complex graphs and operational indicators are presented in an intuitive format, making the training process easier and increasing engagement among specialists.

Conclusion

A modern industrial website is a way to translate complex technologies into clear, human-friendly language and present a product in full detail. It helps convincingly demonstrate the production process, its capabilities, and its advantages, shaping an accurate understanding of the company’s expertise.

When 3D graphics, interactivity, and thoughtful UX design work together, the website becomes a modern digital tool that highlights a company’s innovation, builds trust, accelerates sales, and makes communication easier and more persuasive.
